Frames

We are about to reenter the land of the frame....I'm kind of excited (although reserve the right to change my mind!!!) I think it is now time to explain the frustration of my wood cutters. Some people take comfort in math. Things are done logically and with measuring tapes and exact plan's as to what the end goal is. The idea of saying "oh it dosn't need to be exact, just kind of a mid sized frame" creates a look of confusion and panic. I am sure the same look that comes over my face when they ask me to give them specific numbers. I can't possibly explain my joy when my brother in law asked me and I quote can you give me examples like the size of a cerial box or a piece of computer paper or perhaps the picture that is hanging above our couch.......I have found a man who understands!!!!!!!!! Let us throw a parade, do a dance, now all I can think as I look at my box of mini wheats is what a great sized frame that will be!!!!

Berry picking and felting in progress

I am about to introduce you to the salmon berry....a delightful razberry looking thing that tastes nothing like a razberry...I love them. They are growing in the yard and on the road leading up to the house. Although I live alone, and one would think that I would have all the berries I could eat...you would be mistaken........the deer, the birds, nature, all of them are lovers of salmon berries. I will have to get up at the crack of dawn and stand in line to get some.

Slug hunting

Hello! Today started with slug hunting! Me, aka Auntie Buttons, Grandma Mo, Grandpa Poppy and Isador. Tromping through the woods seeking out big fat creepy fantastic slugs! I have no pictures as I brought with me my camera full of dead batteries, however it was funny and lovely and my pants are covered in slug slime. I have just finished dinner..tuna melt....and am heading up to the CBC and my owls.....I have been listening to the CBC every day and am starting to feel like a grown up (only adults would choose to listen to the news) It makes me feel a bit better that I am making a huge crafting disaster, a whirlwind of felting and buttons while listening to the news...maybe that makes me a cool grown up...or at the very least an adult that would never tell a kid to clean up his mess...messy people are the most creative!!!! I will have to replace my batteries and take some pictures..perhaps tomorrow.

The sun was out, and now it's raining!

Hi all! This morning I felt, for a moment like a local. A true Islander. I was at the grocery store at 9:53 a.m. so when at 10:00 they flung open the doors I was one of the first to enter! Why is this such a big deal? Because, my dear main land folk the huge truck full of food comes across on the ferry and Monday morning the selfs are full...this is a very big deal...I know this because I have gone grocery shopping on a Sunday....I went with my shoulder bag and an empty belly. I impulsed shopped. I bought strawberry's for a million dollars and a mango for a mer thousand (prices may have been embelished) 2 boxes of rice milk, face scrub, tuna and cheese and bread and the biggest bag of nuts and fruit. No thought to the ginormous walk I had in front of me, nor my smallish bag...blissfully ignorant! I was half way home when a very nice elderly man asked if I needed a ride. I said yes! The funny thing is that I wasn't hitch hiking, just putting one foot in front of the other with perhaps a look of pain on my face. I was very grateful! I also need to announce my name change...Auntie buttons. My family has been calling me this and Isador now knows me fully as Auntie buttons.....It makes me laugh and smile. I can see us now, 16 years from now, Auntie buttons holding Isador's hand while he gets his first tattoo......

Good Morning!

The sun is visible....fully. I am very excited..fully. I was walking by a window this morning and a humming bird looked in....Good Morning. I feel like I am writing a children's book!! It has been rainy and cold for the past week and I was starting to feel a bit blue...I do need the sun and now that it is here, plan to take full advantage of it. I am waiting for my sister and nephew to arrive...little road trip, coffee and 2 year old running around. Children really are a glorious thing and feel quite pleased that this summer has allowed me to be surrounded by his energy. Although it is nice knowing that he dosnt belong to me and that we live in different homes.....sorry sweet Isador!!!! Off to visit the sun...oh glorious wonderful sun!!!

June

Hello June! I have neglected my blogging horribly, however I am here, I am back, I have returned to my computer!! I have walked into town and am drinking mass amounts of coffee at the coffee shop. I have some new pictures, owls and a Garry (a boy fairy) I resolved the fairy wing crisis...I used my creative genius (using my sarcastic voice) and made some wings out of paper and paint and glaze and tada...wings!!! The felt crisis has also been resolved...some sort of quilting backing.....I am adjusting to the rain...one must always leave the house with your rain jacket!!! And although Simon's hunting hasn't stopped the duck tape over the cat door has prevented "surprises" from arriving by my bed. If only I could train him to hunt and bring back toilet paper or cheese.... My brother in law bought me a toy rat to remember (what is now known as) the incident....thanx Sean (yup, used my sarcastic voice again!!) Another picture of a deer and a HUGE slug that I picked up off the road..saving his life. The picture of me holding the giant slug caught the moment when I realized that it had suction cupped it's self to my hand, and that my hand might be the one that needed saving! O.K. people, month 2 in the wilds!!!
